St Joseph's Aged Care has an excellent reputation in the Coffs Harbour community. The residential aged care service is built on a flat site comprising four houses that foster a community atmosphere.

There is a large community room for social activities including dancing and musical performances that encourages social interaction among residents.

St Joseph's Aged Care has 56 low care residential beds including secure care for eight special needs residents. St Joseph's is accredited by the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency.

At St Joseph's, development has begun on a new two-storey extension which will be located at the rear of the existing Azalea Avenue complex, with frontage to Pitt Street.This purpose built extension will house an extra 56 beds. This will allow St Joseph's to provide care and support to a total of 112 residents, as well as offering care to more frail residents through the introduction of high and dementia-specific care services. The extension works are due to be completed towards the end of 2008.

History

St Joseph's was established in 1991 and extended in 1997 to increase its capacity to 56 beds. Previously a ministry of St Augustine's Parish, St Joseph's transitioned to Catholic Healthcare in July 2005. Since 1998, St Joseph's has had the services of a dedicated educator and re-accreditation co-ordinator. St Joseph's works closely with two other Catholic aged care services in the area: Ozanam Villa and St Augustine's Aged Care.

Transport

St Joseph's is in close proximity to shops and services in Coffs Harbour. It is on the town bus route to the Plaza and to the Mall. The site is accessible at the rear and front for taxis and emergency vehicles. St Joseph's is two blocks west of the highway and two blocks south of the Catholic Club.
