About Percy Miles
Percy Miles Villa has been named after Percy Miles who lived in Kirrawee for almost 40 years. He and his wife had no children but he loved children and animals. At one time he had horses, sheep, ducks, dogs and cats on his property.
For many years Percy helped out doing odd jobs for the Presentation Sisters at Mary Immaculate College, Sutherland. Percy was a good friend of the St Vincent de Paul Society, and in his twilight years, Society members visited him regularly to offer him companionship and assistance.
When he died, Percy left his house and adjoining land to the Society. The Society bought two more properties which adjoined Percy's home, in order to have sufficient land to build Percy Miles Villa.
As the hostel is admired and appreciated by so many people, Percy's generosity to the Society and to his community will be remembered.
