Mental Health Support
Support for people with a mental illness
We support people with a mental illness, psychiatric disability or an intellectual disability, to enable these people and their carers to access the right services to meet their needs. These services enable people to participate in the community, to enter or remain in employment, to undertake education and training and to increase the stability of their accommodation.
The Mental Health Respite Program, funded through the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, recognises and supports carers for their valuable role and provides much needed respite support for carers, as well as tailored services for those for whom they care.
These services are provided in the Central West, Orana and Mid North Coast region.
Service types include:
- in home respite - Central West and Mid North Coast regions
- day centres - Central West and Orana regions
- overnight respite - Orana region
- brokered respite for carers and families - Orana region.
The Support for Day to Day Living in the Community Program, funded by the Department of Health and Ageing, is run by Community Services in Orange. This service supports people with a severe and persistent mental illness to improve their health and to meet their social, recreational and vocational goals. We provide individually focused activities and social and educational opportunities within the client group and in the local community.
