History
Opened as Ozanam Villa, the building was initially constructed in 1966 as two blocks of four self-contained units. A further four self-contained units and a community building comprising 11 single rooms was constructed a year later.
In 1980, a further extension was opened comprising a second storey of 13 single rooms with ensuites. Two years later four more rooms with ensuites were added. In 1994, 12 self-care units were converted to hostel level accommodation. The dining room and kitchen were enlarged and modernised and a new family common room and laundry were constructed. In 1999 and 2000, more rooms were upgraded to provide single low care accommodation with ensuite. In 2006, the Rendu Unit, catering for people with dementia was opened.
After more than more 40 years being owned and operated by the St Vincent de Paul Society, in May 2007 Ozanam Villa became part of Catholic Healthcare. In May 2008, it was re-named Holy Spirit Aged Care.
