Caring for someone at home, particularly those people requiring full-time or high level care can be an isolating and lonely experience for carers. Catholic Healthcare would like to help you.

We believe that taking a regular break from your usual caring role is crucial, not only for you, but also for the person in your care. We provide a range of in-home services or in a day service so you can take a break.

Flexible and convenient, our in-home respite service involves one of our trained, qualified community care staff visiting your home and taking over the carer role from you. Depending on your support needs, we can provide up to 19 hours of respite, including an overnight respite service. Like in-home respite, our day services enable you to take a break while the person you are caring for enjoys a variety of social and therapeutic programs in a friendly, safe and caring environment.

Maronite seniors socialise

Mercy Community Care and the Maronite Diocese of St Maroun run two-day services for senior Lebanese Maronites. Located in the Sydney suburbs of Thornleigh and West Ryde, the day services offer a diverse range of activities and outings. They provide lonely or isolated people with an opportunity to socialise in a comfortable environment where their cultural and linguistic needs are addressed.

Chantal offers carers a break

Chantal, a day and respite service run by Mercy Community Care in the Sydney suburb of Waitara, has expanded its support services for carers with the introduction of weekend and overnight respite. Designed to cater for the needs of older people, the Thursday, Friday and Saturday overnight respite service is offered in a comfortable, homelike setting.
