Mr Michael Rowan
B. Ec, MBA, CPA, FAIBF
Chairman
Michael Rowan is Chair of the Board and non-executive director of Catholic Healthcare Limited. Currently Managing Director of First Commercial Limited, Michael is an experienced banker and consultant who has held senior management positions in line business units including commercial banking, agribusiness banking and international banking. Other senior appointments include financial control responsibility, strategic planning and investment banking with Westpac and Ord Minnett.
Michael is an economics graduate from Monash University and holds an MBA from Washington State University. He is a Certified Practising Accountant and a Fellow of The Australian Institute of Banking and Finance. He currently serves as a non-executive director and Chair of Hawkesbury District Health Service Limited.
Mr Kerry James AM
Deputy Chair
Kerry James is a non-executive director of Catholic Healthcare Limited. Kerry has many years of experience in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. With a career in electronics and communications, Kerry worked for Telecom and later joined Mayne Nickless where he became General Manager of their Security Division. Kerry then established his own electronic security company UNISEC, which was subsequently acquired by James Hardie Limited.
Kerry was the inaugural Chairperson of the Cabinet Committee that developed and launched The Victor Chang Institute, of which he was a founding board member. He has also contributed to the governance of St Ignatius College Riverview and Loreto Normanhurst.
Kerry was awarded the Australia Medal in 1999 for his service to the community. Currently, Kerry serves as Chairman of World Youth Day 2008 and is a non-executive director of Hawkesbury District Health Service Limited.
A/Prof Christine Giles
BA, MPP, FAIM
Associate Professor Christine Giles is a non-executive director of Catholic Healthcare Limited. Christine has extensive knowledge of and experience in the health, community and aged care sectors. Christine is Associate Professor at Sydney University, the School of Public Health, and the Australian Health Policy Institute, and a fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
Christine has held a series of increasingly senior executive management positions in the public and private sectors. In these positions Christine has been responsible for policy development, strategic planning and service and capital planning. Christine's recent experience includes governance training, health service planning and management, project design, direction and management, strategic planning and business development and review. Christine lectures in governance and leadership, evaluation and project management. Christine is General Manager of the National Breast Cancer Centre.
Mr Paul Johnson
Mr Paul Johnson brings financial and risk expertise to the Board. Paul is a qualified accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Insurance Institute in Australia. Paul was a partner at Deloitte for nine years where he developed technical skills in auditing, insurance and forensic accounting.
Paul currently holds the position of Asia Pacific Regional Director of Aon Global Risk Consulting for Aon Ltd and Paul is a member of the global board for Aon Global Risk Consulting.
Mr John Kelly
RN, LLB, BA (Hons), Grad Dip Legal Practice
Before starting his own legal firm, John Kelly has been a partner at top 10 law firms for more than 10 years, after spending his first 15 years in clinical and senior management positions in health care.
John is a Principal of John G Kelly & Associates Pty Limited, providing legal advice primarily to clients in the health, not-for-profit and aged care sectors, in the areas of commercial, corporate and competition law, as well as general regulatory compliance and governance advice.
Mr Michael Kennedy
B. Comm (Hons), CPA
Michael Kennedy is a non-executive director of Catholic Healthcare Limited. Michael is a Certified Practising Accountant and a registered tax agent, working in an accountancy practice at Norwest. He was previously living and working in Dubbo and is a former Chairman of Lourdes Hospital Advisory Board. Michael has a sound understanding of regional health issues.

Mr Chris Rigby

Managing Director
Chris Rigby has been the Managing Director of Catholic Healthcare Limited since its inception in 1994. He is also Managing Director of Hawkesbury District Health Service Limited.
Chris established the John Plunkett Centre for Medical Ethics at St Vincent's Hospital, Darlinghurst, and the Australian Catholic Health Care Association in Canberra.
Ms Liz Rummery AM
SAB, LLB
Liz Rummery is a non-executive director of Catholic Healthcare Limited. Liz has worked as a legal practitioner for 30 years specialising in property and commercial law. She is currently Deputy Chancellor of the Southern Cross University Council and Chair of the Audit Committee. She was, until recently, Chair of the Board of Northern Rivers Area Health Service.
Over the past 20 years, Liz has been involved in the governance of institutions delivering public healthcare and currently holds ministerial appointments including Chair of the Rural Health Taskforce.
Liz was awarded the Australia Medal in 2002 for service to the community in public health and education.
Mr Jim Tate
BCom (UNSW), MCom (UNSW), FAICD
Jim has over 30 years' experience in the financial services sector, 20 with Westpac Banking Corporation. Through the late 1980s and early 1990s he held a number of managerial roles in Westpac's Australian Financial Markets Group, mainly in fixed income and derivatives.
After six years heading the bank's operations in New York and London, he returned to Australia in 1999 where he has undertaken a number of General Manager roles within Westpac Institutional Bank, including General Manager, Corporate Banking and Chief Financial Officer. From 2000 to 2003 he managed the integration, and later, sale of Australian Guarantee Corporation (AGC) to GE Capital.
Currently, Jim is Managing Director, Treasury, in Westpac Banking Corporation, with responsibility for funding policy across the Group. He is Director of Hastings Funds Management Limited, the bank's wholly owned specialised funds management arm as well as a range of Westpac subsidiaries.
On a personal level, Jim is married to Dr Julie McGrath, a General Practitioner in Coogee NSW and has four children. He has a strong interest in education and is actively involved as Deputy Chairman of the St Joseph's College Foundation Limited.
